Chichester is the county town of West Sussex and, although small, is a highly attractive destination particulary for its architecture. It has numerous Georgian buildings and Chichester cathedral is one of the most famous in the UK. Saint Richard of Chichester is the patron saint of the city and the Bishop of Chichester in the 13th century. The cathedral contains a shrine to Saint Richard as well as the remains of a Roman mosaic pavement. The city has a rich history and the city centre today stands on the foundations of Noviomagus Reginorum, a Romano-British city near the Roman Palace of Fishbourne. In July, Chichester holds an annual music and arts festival known as the Chichester Festivities and the Chichester Festival Theatre summer season is considered one of the most important annual British theatre events. The city also has a lively music scene with the Chichester Symphony Orchestra and artists of various genres performing around the city. The lead singer of Anthony and the Johnsons was born in the city. The Chichester music scene peaks in July during Chichester RAJF, a four day festival that originally began as a hockey club fundraiser. The events capcity is now at 2000 and has seen performers such as the late James Brown, Blondie, Kenny Ball, The Pretenders and Status Quo over the years. Chichester is now also a Fairtrade City with the establishment of the Fairtrade Chichester Group in 2005
