Felixstowe is a North Sea seaport and is the largest container port in the UK and Europes fourth busiest. The town has numerous attractions which include the nature reserve and bird observatory at Landguard Fort. The Felixstowe golf course is one of the oldest in the UK and the Spa Pavillion theatre is also noteworthy having hosted the likes of Jimi Hendrix, the Who and Led Zepplin. The Duchess of Kent, Bessie Wallis also spent time in Felixstowe while waiting for the Duke of Windsor - King Edward VIII - to abdicate. The town museum is housed in the old submarine mining establishment and has 14 rooms of displays. The town pier is also of historical interest having been deliberately destroyed in WWI to prevent its use by the enemy as a landing strip
