Northampton is a large market town on the River Nene, and in the county town of Northamptonshire. Famous for its hand made rubber soled welted shoes and Loake Shoes, many other famous shoe manufacturers are based here. Errol Flynn also spent his formative years with the Northampton Repertory Company. The towns major employers are Barclaycard, Panasonic, Coca Cola and Schweppes Beverages Ltd as well as Carlsberg. The town and its castle were important in the early 12th Century with the Kind often holding court in the town. Northampton applied unsuccesfully for city status as part of the millenium cities scheme. However the University College is now the Univeristy of Northampton after receiving full university status in 2005. The town is noted for its many parks including Abington Park, Delapre Park and Biling Aquadome leisure park. Northamptons oldest building is the largest and best preserved of Englands round churches. The Curch of the Holy Sepulchre was built in 1110. Other notable structures are the Guidhall, the Express Lift Tower and Queen Eleanors Cross
