Douglas (Doolish in Manx) is the capital of the Isle of Man and the centre of the Islands business, finance, shipping, shopping and transport operations. It is at the confluence point of the Dhoo and Glass rivers and is home to one third of the islands population. A sporting event the city is famous for is the TT races, with the TT Grandstand marking the start and finish of the race. This motorcycle race takes place annually on public roads although its future is continuously in doubt especially due to Mad Sunday when any member of the public can ride the mountain section of the course which is open one way from Ramsey to Onchan. Douglas is also set to hold the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. For a small town, it is packed full of attractions such as the Manx Museum, The Gaity Theatre and the Tower of Refuge. Douglas is also frequented by many wanting to take advantage of its reputation as a tax haven. It has numerous surrounding villages and smaller towns including Onchan and Union Mills
